In Joomla! core the Alternative-Layout selectbox shows groups. First group lists original files, second group lists from overrides folder. Currently, Cobalt does show the templates from their original location only.

Suggestions / Ideas

  • Cobalt's template manager List and manage the overrides in MyTemplate/HTML... folder. Possible?

  • Cobalt override parameters
Override selectbox should show files from MyJoomlaTemplate/HTML...

EDIT Okt 11th
Joomla 3.2 will get new template manager features. Including Overrides. (video preview)

Regarding accessing and assigning templates from MyJoomlaTemplate/HTML/...

The core Alternative-Layout selectbox seem to show groups. First group are original files, second group is from Overrides folder. AFAIK, Cobalt does show the templates from their original location. Would be nice to have the same display and capabilities like in core selects.

Small update and experiences with Joomla Overrides manager:

  • nice to have a quick way to open and edit files directly
  • Drawback: If you want to create NEW Overrides, the ENTIRE folder structures is copied/duplicated. Even files that are actually not supposed to be "overrides" ?! You would have to delete every unwanted file/folder manually. :(
