IMHO, adding Tags should have a slightly improved input. It looks and behaves not so smooth like AutoComplete fields do.

Currently its not possible to hit the "Return"-Key to apply the entries. The workflow is not streamlined. It takes 3-4 steps to make entries...:

  1. hit the button...

  2. place cursor,

  3. type comma(s),

  4. hit the button...

Please, can you improve it?

Or make it similar to AutoComplete:

Thanks for listening.

EDIT:**

Here is another example for an interesting tags input workflow. Found it on XING, a german business community. There is a "add new tag" in the same line...

A click reveals my OWN tags, that i entered previously.

In general, AutoComplete field could benefit of a visual hint or inline text. Comparable to the "...+" in my XING example. A light text hint that says something like: "type here..." or "add new..." etc.

A totally white and empty input field is no good UI/UX.

BTW, just found the neat HTML5 command "placeholder".

Example:

<input type="text" name="fname" placeholder="First name" />

Demo:

Would be cool to have a tags menuitem type. Or extended Tags module. Something that allows to generate a tags overview. Maybe with A-Z grouping, popularity, latest etc.

e.g. http://stackapps.com/tags
