Might be useful for hot events or limited special offers.

  • Date/Time display as an animated countdown timer.

Could be fed by publish-up/down times or by date/time field.

Examples:

OStimer module

magento - misc shop items

magento timed shop item:

animated Javascript - moving numbers:

EDIT:

Nice looking jQuery counter/timer script (commercial)

Again! With genius ideas :)

Right now we are doing templates for fields. I think this will be extremely easy for anyone to create this display template for date and time. Or we can create one as example.

Scheduled for Cobalt 8

The fields templates will come with next release. It will become more obvious when you see it. Every field will have 3 new parameters. Input template, Full article template and List article template. And every field will have folders

tmpl/input

tmpl/output

With template files.

That will actually mean that anyone can add his own template and change how field does look without losing changes on update.

And of course there may be many different ways to represent the same data of the same field.

But I have already scheduled this counter for Cobalt 8.

I hope next release means next build -- which means tomorrow .. :D

Perfrct timing, since i just started to make copies from existing fields, just for the purpose of displaying the content in a different way ( example: text field displays an icon and the content as tooltip of the icon).

With this new approach, that would not be needed anymore. :D

Not tested, yet. But topic could have a status change, maybe an official answer that it is available as a field output template ;-)

(Looking forward to use the countdown in a planned project: an equipment-manager with status and rental/repair dates)

Unfortunately, this project was set on hold for the time being. Maybe later this year.
