Unfortunately it is a bug. This button should not give this error. I was able to repeat it locally on my computer. I ll pass this information to developers.

Were is it? Where do you click and popup appear? Which field?

When I go to where I would add or edit fields, there is an options tab. I click on that and the pop up appears. If I open any field to edit and click the options tab there, it does the same thing. 500 error, xml file did not load, return to control panel.

There are no tabs in field edit form and if you click on tab you just get to the tab but not the popup.

Please make a screenshot for me so I could understand. And mark there tab that popup when you click.

Morning. I have done a screenshot for both options tabs and marked and attached. Also the error itself. Thanks for your help.

I see.

I do not know why it is not loading but this options do nothing. Just ignore it. It is global Cobalt ACL rules there only. Nothing related to fields.

That is a relief, thank you :D I have put off adding to content in case I had to uninstall, and I'm happy this isn't necessary.
