Does anyone know if i can use Smart Slider for user cobalt home pages. For example I have created content type "Project" for my users. Can they:

  1. Create Project (cobalt content type)
  2. Set a Project as featured
  3. Then I use Smart Slider to display only THEIR FEATURED PROJECT IMAGE on ONLY their COBALT HOME PAGE.

Thanks!

Hello gteigland, don't know the complete parameter set and features of "Smart Slider". The wiki shows a userID parameter... to me it looks like a simple input for one or multiple ID#'s. So, a manual input and restriction only? If so, it won't help you. IMHO, the slider module does not know about your current userhomepage context. (Please ask the developer for clarification. Maybe they can add such a feature.)

In general, there is another problem you might get into with modules: The Cobalt User's Homepage menuItem does inherit the same MenuItemID like your regular Section! Which means, you can't simply assign a module to this homepage context only, you would have to assign the module to the section list menuItem as well! Otherwise it will not show up. At least this was my experience, with the User Limit parameter set to Restrict current user's homepage. A bug!? :(

Possible workarounds:

  • use Records Module and a suitable template (gallery or custom). AFAIK, Records module detects the user homepage context. See parameter set under "User limit". (Could not get it to work correctly)
  • Load any 3rd party module or module-position programatically. Hence latest comments from Sergey in this topic.
  • Maybe possible to load modules/positions in markup template -> userblock ...

Just out of curiosity, did you solve this task?
Did you have any conversation with SmartSlider Dev's?

Actually not yet. I was just going to look at it again next week. I got sidetracked.

There is a module that can show only items of currently logged in user or profile user. You deside. For example you want that when user A look at profile of User B see his featured items in slider, or you want user see only his own also possible.

I remember, I had some issues with Records Module "User Limit":
