Is there a way to keep the filters active when switching from one view to another in the record listing? Every time I switch views the filters get reset.

Unfortunately it is not possible. Template change reset the filter.

I agree with pepperstreet. That would be a nice enhancement.

Here's the situation I'm working with right now... 2 templates - calendar and table. A user has the table displayed and they apply filters to narrow down the data to specifically what they want. Now they want to see it on a calendar. It would be great to just switch templates to visualize the data a different way. I can imagine doing this with a charting/graphing/mapping template as well.

This rule is true especially for calendar and map templates. Those templates break rules and load articles with AJAX through field. But I'll see what I can do.
