I have already seta tax percent value for my country, so i was wondernig if this fiels is for something different... maybe paypal commission?

and the value to insert here is a percent value or fixed (eg. 10 will be 10% or 10 $) ?

thank you

It is a percent value.

This is extra configuration for some cases. For example you want that paypal add some % to total during checkout.

You do not need to use it. You use internal tax system.

Sergey It is a percent value.

Not here. If I set Tax to 0.1 it will add $ 0.10 instead of 10% to the total :-(

I do not calculate the tax. tax parameter of PayPal I use it as it is used by PayPal. You enter something there and pass to paypal. What it deos with it I am not sure. I was not even sure it is needed in Emerald. Added it because i could :)

Do you mean to say we shouldn't use it at all, since you don't know what it does?

Here is what we have

  • tax Optional Transaction-based tax override variable. Set this variable to a flat tax amount to apply to the payment regardless of the buyer's location. This value overrides any tax settings set in your account profile. Valid only for Buy Now and Add to Cart buttons. Default — Profile tax settings, if any, apply.
  • tax_rate+ Optional Transaction-based tax override variable. Set this variable to a percentage that applies to the amount multiplied by the quantity selected during checkout. This value overrides any tax settings set in your account profile. Allowed values are numbers 0.001 through 100. Valid only for Buy Now and Add to Cart buttons. Default — Profile tax settings, if any, apply.

May be I just need to add another parameter.

Hmm, I haven't dug into PayPal's tax settings yet. Personally I would stick to Emeralds tax settings and leave PP as it is.

In an ideal world I would like to see the price and tax calculated Like in Emerald, so there's no difference between Emerald's invoice and PP's receipt.

Yes, I found the same problem on Emerald 9.402.

Maybe this is a bug, I remember that once it worked as "percent" before. Not sure about this.

Both "percent" and "value" is good, just clarify this in the "field description" to make it easier to understand. If you mean percent, maybe you can show a "%" symbol just after the input box?

Thank you.

Today I updated to Emerald v9.407, there is no % symbol after the "Tax" field input box.

So I have no idea what type of tax it uses, fixed amount, or fixed percent?

You have to update PayPal gateway also 9.33.

Ok, after update the PayPal gateway plugin to 9.33 version, I saw two types of Tax now.

Thank you.

PS: maybe you need to add some kind of "update checker" in Emerald 10 to remind the user about these updates.

That would be nice I think.
