Need a help from the expert for the following issues:

  1. I'm trying to change articel author (user id) via front end/back end, when I choose select user it said "you are not allow to view this pages", I'm using user admin.

  1. What is this use for and how do I find the setting (in red)

  1. I have set to protect some field with subscription, and this is what we have for non subsc user, can we change it to a word like "Protected" with the links to subcription page.

  1. I have set filter in section to 'records of all section', so I can filter on root level, this works fine. but when I go to sub level and use the filter it show all articel from all level not only for a sub level.

For ex:

COMPANY at this level, filter working fine can show all articel - AGENT at this level, filter show all articel from COMPANY level, it

supposed to show only for AGENT level.

- BANK - SERVICE

I am sure Sergey meant this one:

It can be opened if you click on the More search options in the section view on the front-end

In addition if you click on filter links they will only add filters not replace.

Thank you, I'm following your instructions. My questions are:

  1. If I want to use Category filter combine with Author filter all together, how to do that?, because if we choose filter by Category and type the word in the box, then choose filter Author, the filter Category was replace with filter Author and was not added next to it. (what I mean with replace, is only the last chosen filter that would be applied).

  2. As In the picture, there is filter "Select Field", how to add it?, What I knew, the list of the filter shown in more search feature was setup in individual field parameter.

  1. It is not replaced it is added. Just add categories and users and tryt o filter and you will see.

  2. Every field that have build iin filter support have Enable Filter parameter. Just turn it on.

Sergey,

  1. OK, it is working. Is that possible when we apply 2 filter, both filter will be appeared in the box?, then user could see what filter that being applied before they hit "apply" button.

My category has only 2 level, but the second level cat (sub cat) is very detail, it could reach more than 100 sub cat. Could that be the cause of slow performance?. if I reduce the sub cat and break down to third level, could that improve the speed?. For your info: To get to section page in localhost, it takes 35-45 seconds. Need your advice.

  1. No you cannot see what filter is applied before you click apply button because it is user who just applied it a second ago and one do not need to see log of what he s doing because he knows.

This is how I see this but may be I am wrong.

  1. Definitely we can improve it. Please pack your site (only DB) with akeeba backup and give it to me.

Just a quick thought and alterantive idea for 1.)

What about changing and get rid of the tabbed filter layout. So, that one adjusted filter does not hide the other...

This may be perfect solution. Create filter template with shows all the filters on one pane.

I have beed able to reduce load speed to 1.3 sec. Please consider this things.

  1. In filter template parameter turn off category filter. Because it overloads memmmory as it loads all categories to the page.

  1. Turn off showing subcategories in category template parameters.

But even if I show it and even show numbers or records in subcategories I do not go more than 3.5 sec.

  1. New text field will have autocomplete filter works with ajax. This saves almost 4s. On next update.

And wait till next Cobalt update with applied changes.

Sergey,

That was a significant improvement, Thank You.

Could you share with me the PHP/Apache/Mysql configuration and your OS (PC/Server) that you use for the test?, Because I cannot get those result with my localhost configuration.

Cannot wait for the update :D

(Appreciate for your work.)

Core i5 2.5 Hgz, 8GB RAM

Note you will not be able to get that result before you update to next version.

What is your result now?

I'm using the same Core i5 with 4GB, Win7,

Like in my previous statement that loading time was about 35-45 sec, and now it has been reduce to 16-17 sec (applying your setting suggestion). Good improvement.

and I cannot wait to get < 3 sec result, but worth to wait for next version.. :D

Hi Sergey,

My project has been approved by my management, and I will start to build the directory with new category tree structure which is totally new, and I will need to start it from zero.

Is there any news about Cobalt 8 ?, I'm expecting the import feature to accelerate my database development.

Yes. There is news. It will be released on December 20. I would suggest you to wait to avoid unnecessary migrations.

That's a great news !, :D

I'll wait for cobalt 8 and all its enhance features, especially the import tools that will be a great benefit.

and I believe the query will be more faster than C7.
