Hi,

I need users to be able to extend their subscription per record once it has expired.

Typical usage scenario

Classified Ads website

Users can place their adds (like classified ads in newspapers) to promote their business or service. An ad consists of a notice (title and short description) and a full ad view.

Placing an ad is free for a limited time period, let's say a week. Users can place multiple ads. After a week an ad expires and after payment it can be extended for 1 week, 2 weeks, a month, etc.

Expired ads can be prolonged at any time, even if an ad has expired for more then a couple of months. The new paid subscription starts at the end of the free subscription period or when a new subscription has been paid.

So far, I haven't found a way to accomplish this :(

Please tell me this can be achieved......

Best regards,

Jeff

Sergey

Let's see what I can do this week.

This week...teardrop in my eye

This sounds sweet, but I will feel like I say I am busy just to raise the cost. I think 20 USD an hour is more than enough. But thank you. I very appreciate your offer.

You are a man of principles... many teardrops in my eye

If you need anything, just let me know ok.

Now, if you excuse me, I'm gonna cry a bit....

Another question. Button to prolong will appear only after article expired?

Because if article expired it is not visible anymore. And if it is visible, then what a sense for being expired?

How users will discover expired articles of other authors?

Yes. Preferably both on List View AND Article View

Expired articles are visible in List View but ** invisible in Article View**.

Article details and comments are not visible in Article View. So that makes perfect sense. :)

Another question. When we edit record what we see? When we add it we see list of plans but on edit? Article may be still not expired.

Ah! this is a very good question! It really depends on what is possible and what is most sensible.

Option 1

You see only the active plan (Free or Paid) for this record.

In this scenario articles can only be prolonged AFTER they have been expired.

Option 2

You see the active plan (Free or Paid) and you see the available plans (eg radio buttons).

In this scenario articles can be prolonged BEFORE they have been expired.

I'm not sure about the workflow here. Q: When does the payment take place, after you have finished editing?

Option 3

You see only the active plan (Free or Paid) for this record and one prolong button.

In this scenario articles can be prolonged BEFORE they have been expired.

Clicking on the prolong button cancels the current edit and brings you to the plans page. Q: Will you be redirected to the same article after payment?

I'm not sure which option is best :(

Option 1 has the disadvantage that an article can be captured by someone else if you are to late to purchase a plan after expiration. (which might be good thing, actually)

Options 2 and 3 give you the opportunity to prolong before expiration.

The downside is possible disorientation during editing.

Let's go for option 1, what you think?

I do not have time to study your project.

No worries. :)

Just tell me what happens when author edit article with is not yet expired. Will he see any list of plans? I think that after article created there is only one appropriate method of extending from article list. Agree?

Agree. See Option 1.

NB: All article titles and thumbnails in the list view are linked to the article, thus selecting an expired article in the list view shows: "You cannot see this article because article author subscription has expired."

Maybe its possible to show the prolong button also here?
