Restricting entire categories

I am having problems restricting entire categories...articles I can do fine.

The URL is:

index.php?option=com_content&view=category&id=12&Itemid=190

And my restriction is:

Universal URL restriction. Url parameter view = category. AND Url parameter id = 12.

But this is still accessible to public view.

What am I doing wrong here?

Please check that emerald plugins are published. Especially system one which is responsible for it.

And also note that this will not restrict access to articles. It will only hide articles in the list where actually you want them to appear. You have to restrict view=article.

And that is may be complicated as you will have to list all ids.

To avoid it you may use special Joomla content rule adapter. It will allow you simply select category in the list.

Although it is not required. You may add universal rules too. But those just may be little bit more complicated to manage.

Thanks - is there any documentation anywhere on a "special Joomla content rule adapter"? I have no idea what that is.

Maybe I should have undertaken a little more due diligence prior to purchase, but other subscription/access control systems have allowed me to select restricted categories that I can subscribe users into either directly or by assignment to new user roles. I've built plenty of sites in different systems and this is confusing me quite a bit.

Is there a custom project perhaps that will provide an easy method assign users access to categories?

Any custom bit of work I'd be interested in is to be able to select multiple subscriptions at once...sort of a shopping cart functionality.

Are either of these things something that you are interested in a conversation about?

Hmmm...well I confess to either being dumb or just being able to get my head around this....and I've used some other complex things.

Maybe I'm just trying to do something it's not designed for. I love where you are going on this, but it's not working out for me...maybe on another project.

Back to AEC...with all it's flaws I know I can pretty much do what I want.

I'am sorry for this. I do тещ think it is matter of complexity. Emerald is very simple thing when you understand idea behind it.

Give it a chance and you will not regret.

What I can ensure you now that you may surely restrict whole Core joomla articles category. here is example screenshot.

Вот как раз после этого шага 1) Эмеральд на Joomla 3.3.3 вообще перестаёт закрывать все и ранее закрытые по этой инструкции категории, и по вновь созданным ограничениям тоже не закрывает - всё становится свободно доступно любому посетителю. Это возникает сразу после установки rule_emerald.j3.com_content.v.9.18 и не исчезает после его удаления. Единственный вариант устранить(вернуть) - удаление и rule_emerald.j3.com_content.v.9.18 и Эмеральда(пакет) с переустановкой его заново. С перепиской заново всех планов по ограничениям. Возможно причина в нестыковках связана с rule_emerald.j3.com_content.v.9.18 .

2) И ещё баг имеющийся до установки rule_emerald.j3.com_content.v.9.18 : Если разлогиниться на сайте находясь в закрытой категории куда есть подписка, то при этом перебрасывает на главную стр. сайта, а не оставляет на той, что был. А при попытках зайти на неё снова и залогинится - опять перебрасывает на главную, а не показывает форму входа. А если войти на сайт с др. страницы и перейти на прежнюю закрытую категорию с которой ранее был сделано разлогинивание - опять перебрасывает на главную. И так - пока не очистишь кеш браузера.

Починить бы всё это ...

Ну вот и ответ. Ваш сервер использет какото кеш или шаблон посылает заголовки хранить данные подольше. Попробуйте переключится в протостар шаблон, и если все работает значит это шаблон. Если нет значит это настройки серврера. Надо как то сделать что бы эти страници не кешировались. Потому что именно сервер говорит браузеру можно кешировать или нет.

Для устранения этой проблемы мне нужно.

  1. Доступ как супер администратор
  2. Все установлено что бы проблема существовала
  3. Прямые ссылки на страници которые предположительно должны быть закрыты но становятся открыты.

какие специфические требования к настройкам сервера для Emerald 9? что на сервере обязательно должно быть включено, что обязательно выключено?

Да нет ни каких специфичиских настроек. Если джумла работает то и Изумруд должен.
