Create a type with fields that act as profile

I would like to create a signup/ profile page. Where the public can signup as a user to the site and at the same time provide other profile information we will need. This will streamline the process rather than having them signup, and then complete a profile later.

How can I have the username and password fields act as profile? and force login after submission?

Ok it looks like this isnt possible. Bummer. So they can register then I can extend their profile, but how to I limit it to 1?

IE after they register through the site. I only want them to be able to post 1 time, and edit that info. This would act as their profile. Any help on how I can achieve this?

Goto YourSection -> General parameters -> Submission -> How many records to this section user can submit
