I am new to Colbalt and am enjoying the learning process. I created my Home Blog page and put a test post there. It's not looking how I wanted it to. I don't want to see all of the columns. I just want the title and the description under the title. The Author can be at the bottom as well. How do I do this?

Welcome to the World of Cobalt!

Cobalt output is driven by templates and their parameters.
You can find a brief overview in the following docs article (see point 1). If you want to customize beyond the default parameters, you should read on point 3, 4, 5. Which explains the templates location and the manager.

Back to your question...

You are using the default record list template. A list template is applied to the entire section...
Go to YourSection -> General Parameters tab -> Templates -> Record list (default)
On the right hand side you see a respective edit button. It has the same name and a little coq/gear icon.
Click the button, and you can configure your template parameters.

BTW, you can select multiple! templates per section. As soon as you choose more than one, the frontend displays a "template/view switcher".
