can't find lang variables, took a look in field templates too but I am bit confused about this

Fixed. Should load locale. Please edit also file

/media/mint/js/moodatepicker/Locale.en-GB.DatePicker.js

Or your own language.

does not contains variables for month/ week days

how do I translate them?

In any way to translate it you will have to hack moodatapicker.js which is not good desicion. I can only think of custom javascript that will replace it.

moodatapicker is a 3d party javascript code. And we do not have control over that. I had a quick look but I could not even find where those lines are created there.

I see, I think this should be fixed in some way as it will force non-english websites to use the calendar in english. Think about it.

Time to upgrade to a current and maintained jQuery replacement.

(Misc jQuery solutions in my older related topic)

BTW, does someone know what are the plans for J! core date picker? Curious what they are going to choose. Maybe not applicable for Cobalt, because Joomla might stick with a simpler single datepicker solution.
