I noticed that in image file if "crop" settngs is selected for thumbnails then the images are being cropped starting form the top-left angle

I think it would be better to crop them by default starting from the center

(it makes sense that the center area of an image contains the most important details)

or even better you could add a parameter to choose how to crop (left - left-top - left-bottom - center-top - center-bottom - center - and so on...)

I remember seeing that feature elsewhere, maybe it's in gallery field, or in an other extension I use... I can't remember right now

That is how it crops actually.

mhhh... strange, my thumbs looked like cropped from the left-top angle... I must investigate

Would be nice to have a small visual help for the different resize methods. (icons? images?)

If not possible in backend, maybe on product page and field description.

If you send me a parameter description with icon-size, format etc. I can create those images for you ;-)

w - width

h - height

Crop

Fit

Fill

Proportional

Height base - Width base when images all adjusted to have the same width or height so when you display then in a row or column those looks strait.
