As far as I can see Membership and Emerald rely on time periods that always begin with registration date. There is no option to create time frames that relate to the calendar year/month/week. Or which ends on the last day of the current year/month. etc.

Maybe this can be implemented by:

  • more optional time-periods (see attachment)
  • custom time-periods
  • set an additional expiration timeframe from NOW/START to week/month/quarter/year or custom date)

Typical usecase:
A local sports-club has memberships for a full calendar-year. e.g. 2012
No matter when I joined the club... my membership expires on 31 Dec of the current year.
In addition, I could get a reduced price, if I joined in the second half of the current year.

Example options from CBsubs (Joomlapolis):

IMHO, a really good collection, though it is pre-defined. Makes sense for many real world applications. It would make Emerald/Membership more complete.

Thanks for listening.

Nice note. Will be there.

If you find anything else other sub extensions has which emerald doesn't please report.

Since E9 beta is around the corner...,

any improvements in time periods and pre-made options?

( Should I open new topics in E9 section? )

Not premade option but any of those options are possible. You can not only set period also start and end date.

Possible in E9? Are there timeframes like (current) month, quarter, Year?

Maybe with a special type of Coupon to reduce the "normal" price by certain amount or percentage?
