Just found "Relative Categories" in category configuration parameters. What is it used for?

Official Answer

Relative categories may be used in Records filed or Module to show relative products/articles. Also our plan, to show list of relative categories in category index.

It is not yet implemented, but we added that DB field to be there.

You mean something like "Cross-Sections" or "Cross-Categories"? I remember, a user posted a topic about assigning an item to different categories... in a complex category structure. In this structure were some equal named categories.
