During a quick test with NextEnd's Accordion Menu, I noticed that Cobalt has no image parameter for the root-category (Section). Although categories have a regular image parameter and upload.

Sample use cases

  • simple usage (no fiddling with HTML description and editor. "Gefrickel-Free" ;) )
  • re-use as icons in category filter
  • re-use in 3rdParty modules like "Accordion Menu".
(currently it is parsing the whole description field for the first IMG-tag)

Suggestion / Ideas

  • image parameter and upload like in sub/categories
  • optional icon/webfont parameter and class.
(Could also be used for other Cobalt items i.e. fields, groups etc. See related links!)

You can find image setting in Options tab in Category configuration.

._. :O..:O ..

I was looking in Section (Root Category) only! My fault...

BTW, shouldn't it have an image parameter, too? Just for completeness. And also for 3rdparty modules, which might use this image.

Where to use it? If in menu then menu has its own parameter. If in template, then we have to think.

Everywhere in Cobalt ;)

  • Field label/icon
  • Field Groups
  • Module parameters i.e. Statistics
  • Template parameters i.e. SectionMenu, User's Menu etc.

Added some related links to "IconPicker's" in initial post.

FYI - here is a rather old video and font feature in a popular WP theme. It comes with a default web-iconfont... but it also offers an upload of custom fonts from Fontello.com! Pretty cool, easy and useful. I would suggest a similar feature for Cobalt global config ;)
