i get this error when i install pkg_cobalt.v.8.44.zip

An error has occurred.

500 Installation unexpectedly terminated: Install path does not exist

From what I can tell this is most likely due to a failure in creating the temporary installation folder on the server - e.g. in my case it was caused by missing permissions on the tmp folder!
