If someone bookmark a topic, it should not have any impact on its order, since it is not a status change or an added comment

But it does not affect modification time. I tested. Bookmarked record, refresh page and it stays on the same place.

yes, but not everyone needs to get a notification if one user will bookmark .. if i bookmark 20 topics .. all other users, subscribed to it, will get a notification

If user do not want, he cat turn it of in notifications settings. But if you are an other you may fill good whe your topic is bookmarked by someone else.

I do not know where is the middle. If I turn it of then those who what it miss it, if I do not turn it off then those who do not what it get it.

Thanks for the heads-up. IMHO it was annoying/confusing with all those unimportant badges.

But if you are an other you may feel good when your topic is bookmarked by someone else.

Agree. Really depends on the user. But i guess the majority would turn it off, because it is not so important. Can't it be OFF as a default? And then let the users turn it ON. (vice versa to the current setting)

Idea/Request

All this reminds me on AngelDesk, where I was able to vote. This was a nice indicator for the appreciation and possible followers with the same opinion/demand.

Are you going to add something like vote? i.e.:

  • Utilize Cobalt Karma points?
  • Vote +/- like in core comments?
  • Utilize Rating? Maybe reduce it to 1-star = 1vote, Show rating total as total votes.

There are 2 diffrent votes.

  1. Vote for topic. This is main vopte like I also have this question or I support this idea. This should be done as separate field in my opinion.

  2. Vote for comment. This vote only show appreciation of the comment. Yes, core comment +/- might be used here.

Agree, there are two "places" and contexts to vote on. +/- is more suitable for the comments. I think of it as a "thank you" button. Maybe an alternative way to display it to the users.
(Down vote for a forum topic is really rare, and does not make much sense.)

Vote for topic:
New field? I would try to utilize the "Rating" feature. It is AJAXed and can act as a simple vote. I think it just needs a suitable rating template and image. It already prevents multiple votes/rates. Even self-voting by author or guests ;-) One of my hobbies on AngelDesk ;-) There it was possible to "bump" his own topics.

I am sure you were not along :)

pepperstreet I would try to utilize the "Rating" feature.

To recode current rating into single "add vote" button, is the same as create new vote field.

o.k. but then make it a separate full-fledged "Rating" field! ;-)

pepperstreet full-fledged

Including small statistics lines chart showing how many +1 per week or day if you have already voted. Or simply if you have clicked Show statistis

Also ability to enter Yes/No (+1/-1) values or only Yes (+1). Only Yes is a vote and Yes/No is something like Was this article helpfull?

Ability to sort by this field.

Yes this field may have many features.

Now I only need some free time or good motivation :)

:D "full-fledged" was targeted on a separate Rating-field. Which was discussed in many other topics.

Anyway, it seems you already have made your homework for a special "Voting" field. Rock-on! ;-)
