Hello,

I have added a new field to a Type. I have given it a default entry. How do I make all the existing records add it with the default entry I have added?

I think you just need to resave all existing records. In most cases this helps. I don't know if there is any other solution

Exactly. Open & Resave should do it. (If there are not hundreds or thousands of records)

If you need a bigger "mass change", you might need some technical knowledge and an advanced method like this:

Hi Pepperstreet,

For now, that technical bulk option is a bit above my head. However, later on I will need it, so I'll keep it in mind for then. Thanks.

Maybe the import feature is an alternative?! It can update existing records. Drawback: You would need your record data in a proper CSV file.

Hi Pepperstreet,

Ah, that's awesome. I can easily do that. That feature will make my life much easier. And this will be good to learn, and will allow me to more quickly grow my site as I have lots of stuff to add in a month or so.

Is there an export feature that will show me the exact structure of the fields so I can duplicate them to match? Or somewhere I can look to see exactly what the fields contain?

Hi Giorgi625,

I installed some of the formatters you linked to, but I can't seem to be able to get it to work. There is minimal instructions. It says to add " formatter=csv " to the end of the list url. I have tried that on the following urls, and it doesn't do anything. I also tried some of the other formatters - excel and xml, and it doesn't do anything either.

These are the urls I'm trying it on, which are category lists: https://feast-for-freedom.com/educate/ingredients/category-items/3-single/type-13/94-anticaking-agents https://feast-for-freedom.com/blog/category-items/6-blog/28-welcome

So, after adding that text they become (formatters are set to super user only): https://feast-for-freedom.com/educate/ingredients/category-items/3-single/type-13/94-anticaking-agentsformatter=csv https://feast-for-freedom.com/blog/category-items/6-blog/28-welcomeformatter=csv

Do I have the syntax correct?

Hi Pepperstreet,

Thanks! That did the trick!

That instruction would be good if it was added to the existing download instructions, for those of us who have less understanding of the backend of websites.
