Hi all,

Believe it or not, but in these 'modern' times, we are still stuck running a J! website based on 1.5.26. Part of the reason we cannot upgrade are the MightyExtensions components we purchased: Users have to signup using MightyRegistration; private PMs, avatars, etc. on our Kunena forum are being handled by Touch and MightyMessage and our promotional mails are sent out using Mighty MassMail.

Yes, it's OUR problem that we purchased said components hoping for a future-proof upgrade path.

BUT: By removing the old www.mightyextensions.com page, we lost access to the old forum. And this old forum provided us with some great information to make these old components work as they should.

I was about to find out how one can make the member (Touch) popup appear a little bit longer, but unfortunately, this information is now gone.

So is the any way to access the old forum? Or can we hire you guys to make our 1.5 site perfect? No need for all the new stuff (as great as it may be).

Please advise!

Best regards,

TT

TheTransistor Unfortunately, the site hosted on the "new." subdomain (shouldn't it be called 'old'? ;P )

True. This was a subdomain I was using to move this site to new server. But later I desaded to just close the site. So name of subdomain exists.

Anyway, it is not for long time. I'll close it in few month anyway.

pepperstreet Nice one. But 3rd Party stuff is missing. Remember the indispensable Terix Date/Calendar field modification ;-)

Yes, it is. I cannot keep everything. it is seriously affect perfomance of our new server. So I left only essential things.

Hi Sergey,

We offered you a FREE dedicated server for the old www.mightyextensions.com site. What more can we do? We can sign a NDA if that's required.

I think most people who spent their hard-earned cash on the 'old' components would accept the fact that support and updates are no longer provided.

But ... I dare to speak on behalf of all the brave customers who bought your (now) outdated components in the first place (and still have to struggle using them): It would be a wonderful gesture from your end allowing us to bring back the the old site. Especially as there are NO costs involved.

Again: I really can't see the problem. We can guarantee full availability of said server for at least two years. And we're paying for it! What more can we do?

And NO! We do not expect ANY free licenses, etc. in return.

It's up to you to decide!

Best regards, TT

Content removed because "private messages" are not sent privatly.

"Will be visible only to article author or comment author you replay to"

???

Anyway, I'd like to send you an e-mail. Can you pls. send me your mail address? I cannot make the "Private" checkbox work.

Theer is nothing more you can do. Your offer is wonderful. But why should we return old site? I want download section to remain on MintJoomla anyway. Even if you restore old site, download have to redurect here. I want activity be turned off. And other things ере finaly will make old site the same as new.mightyextensions.com now.

Is there anything on that site that you need to access and cannot?

What do you mean? You send private message but it is not private? Why are you sure about that?

Hi Sergey,

Apart from my quest to keep the old site alive (seems as if we are tilting at windmills ... ;) ), here are my personal thoughts:

On our site ...

  • We NEED a MightyRegistration / MightyTouch integration with the lastest J! 1.5 version of Kunena.

  • A 'hack' was offered in the 3rd party (download) section of the old ME site, but it's no longer accessible (this explains my pursuit to restore the old site).

  • We purchased MightyInbox to offer a private messaging system for our registered members. We even received an (unofficial) update to show the number of unread messages in our member's inboxes (MightyInbox module). Did it work? No, not really (pls. have a look at the error message I posted before).

  • We are not intending to build something 'revolutionary' with "MightyResources": As long as "Registration", "Touch", "MassMail" and "Message" works on our 'outdated' site, we are 100% happy.

I am aware of the fact that you do not want to mess around with old software, but I also know that most of our issues could be fixed in less than 30 minutes.

So how can we proceed?

Best regards,

TT

I have enabled 3DP download section.

Yes and no. In fact I do not even have Joomla 1.5 local instance at all. I have reinstalled the systen 4 times, changed computer one time yet from Win to Mac since I last had Joomla 1.5 installed localy. I'll need half of the day only setup an environment.

Anyway this is kind of work any freelancer may do and if you are going to pay for this job anyway, I would appriciate if you find anyone alse to do this job. And the fact that there will be no more updates, tells that they may hak any file directly without worry to lose changes on update.

I greately apologize if this sounds disappointing. I am still open to answer all questions even if your developer have that. But remember at the time we created Mighty Extensions we had 12 people in the office. And all extensions was eveloped by diferent people. I know only Resources all others was developed not by me and in fact I know about it not more than any other freelancer. I mean I know what is does but not how in the code.
