Hi,

I know there are some discussions already about an extended Cobalt user homepage and or profile. And I am all for that. But since I use Community Builder on quite a number of sites, I'd like a CB-plugin to show a list of Cobalt articles in their user profile.

If it would support just a title and two extra custom fields per article it would satisfy my needs for the moment.

Better option would be to choose an existing template, of coarse :)

@Sergey: If this is no priority for you at all at the moment, maybe you could give me a hint what code to include for such a plugin. I might then be able to alter the standard CB user articles plugin :)

Best regards,

Jeff

Jeff you can see JomSocial plugins. I am sure that CB plugins would be the same but only triggered on different even and installed in different group.

Did you notice this item in Community Depot?

CB - AG COBALT RECORDS TABS - 1.5 RC

Apart from that, i would also appreciate a CB Articles plugin - Model file

BTW, you might also load the Cobalt Records Module, incl. its Template-Override in a CB user profile tab ... :

1.) CB Delimiter field; Load module with J! core plugin, or in any place with ModulesAnywhere by NoNumber.nl

2.) Use J!Module CB Plugin by JoomlaXTC ( 6 modules version)

Older topic... ;)

Just curious how it turned out for you? Did you manage to create a solution?

Hi pepperstreet,

I decided to use EasyProfile because of the more native approach and less overhead instead of CB.

When I was testing CB+Cobalt+Emerald I couldn't get users to Register During Subscription without heaps of alert messages. Another more concerning thing was/is that the RDS system registers users as a Joomla user but not as a CB user, resulting in non activated CB accounts.

In a recent RDS test, first a Joomla activation mail was sent, shortly followed by a CB activation mail. How confusing that is!

On topic

I did manage to include user records in profiles with the help of CB+AG COBALT RECORDS TABS - 1.5 RC+ModulesAnywhere, but that process was initially buggy with J!3.x and it lacked pagination.

Recently I've tested NoNumbers ComponentsEverywhere with Cobalt+EasyProfile+Komento user homepage and it works perfectly, thanks to Komento's ajax interface.

ComponentsEverywhere+Cobalt+EasyProfile+Cobalt user homepage does work but clicking on a tab forces you to leave the page, which is unwanted behaviour. It's a shame really, because I would be able to create a perfect User Profile Page.

I would like to use Cobalt's Records Module but I am not able to use a live id like a the record's owner/author. I think I have to write my own piece of code to show user records in their profiles....

@Jeff
Everything is "on-topic" ;) Many thanks for your reply and valuable feedback/experiences!

Recently I "met" Christophe on Joomlapolis forum. At least a lifesign. He mentioned he is working on other stuff, so no time for Cobalt or any CB integration in the near future.

Currently I have a break in using CB. One reason is the client/project, and another reason the current status and price-tag of CB (too incomplete and expensive for a private purchase and further investigations. Maybe I have the chance later this year. I am still a big fan of Auto-Actions and custom workflows etc. Waiting for an integrated PMS and new GroupJive/Events.

Jeff I would like to use Cobalt's Records Module but I am not able to use a live id like a the record's owner/author.

Isn't there a "current user" mode?! And also a MenuItemID override. If this is the ID of the profile page... it might work.

CB has always been my no.1 community component because of its robustness and versatility. I love the freedom to position fields anywhere in the template. However, since the arrival of JomSocial and EasySocial, CB has to compete with components with much slicker user interfaces.

Beside lagging behind in terms of look and feel, they still use an old version of CB on their own website. They are probably in the process to convert/rewrite CB Subs, old plugins and actions. This is of course a lot of work, but I'm not sure if it helps them to stay on top of the competition. Having that said, I think CB does an excellent job providing a community framework with endless tweaking possibilities.

Surprisingly, JomSocial has made a great come back with their latest version 4, featuring a less cluttered and cleaner design than EasySocial. I just hope they can shake of the old stigma of poor user support.

Right now, I am more than happy to use EasyProfile to extend Joomla's native user profile system, and with its content plugin any field can be displayed anywhere, even in Cobalt.

Yes, but this works only if the user visits his own profile. So it always shows the loggin in user's records, even on other user profile pages.

Just re-newed my CB PRO subscription... for personal investigations and because of 50% coupon. Would like to extend my CBSUBS as well, but can't effort it just for playing around.

IMHO, the current price tag is very questionable! I have talked to Nick(Nant) about it, but they don't seem to see any "issues" with their competitors and market-placement!? Time will tell... And you are right, there is a LOT to do.

Jeff EasyProfile to extend Joomla's native user profile system, and with its content plugin any field can be displayed anywhere, even in Cobalt.

Good to know! So it works on the whole page like NoNumber.nl plugins?

Yes

if you want to display information for a specific user write the following code

{user <field alias> <id of user>}
Powered by Cobalt
